After being pulled over for my window tint, I was given citations for failing to attend my scheduled interlock service and driving on a suspended license. I was very concerned that I might be headed to jail. When I first met with Mr. Dobbs, he explained the full range of possible outcomes. As I had suspected, jail time was indeed a likely outcome in my case. Not only because my offenses warranted such an outcome, but also, the Judge that I was set to appear before was known for being tough. Nevertheless, Mr. Dobbs reassured me that his own experience with recovery would help us convey to the court that I was sincerely willing to change. Although he could not guarantee what the outcome would be, listening to his experience with recovery in his own life gave me hope. Despite the fact that I was on probation and had two prior DUI’s, Mr. Dobbs was able to convey to the court that I was genuine in my recovery efforts. Thanks to both Mr. Dobbs and the Judge’s understanding of the goals the law seeks to achieve for those in recovery, I was spared going to jail. Instead of jail, I was given probation before judgment. As a result, I was able to retain my job, provide for my family, and most importantly, continue on my path to recovery.
